Panthers team weight about to drop significantly?

According to several published reports, Panthers Defensive Tackle Kris Jenkins Is on the trading block. Jenkins is a three time all pro, who at one time was regarded as one of the league’s top DTs. Word is that the Rams and Panthers have engaged in preliminary talks for Jenkins’s services. The familiarity level is there as current Rams personnel director Tony Softli was in charge of college scouting in Carolina when Jenkins was drafted.
Jenkins would be a “huge” addition to the Rams d-line. He would be the kind of space eater that may seal up the gaping hole that also goes by the title of the Rams interior. Questions exist as to Jenkins’s health. He has battled injury issues for the past few seasons. There are also questions about his conditioning. But with out a doubt Jenkins would be an instant improvement to the Rams line. My guess is that it will take something in the vicinity of a fourth round pick to get him off of the panthers hands. Don’t be surprised if the Rams attempt to dangle one of their young TEs, a position that the Panthers have been thin at for the past few years. The biggest obstacle to the Rams acquisition maybe the numerous teams that will also likely bid for his services.
In my mind the Rams biggest competitor is the Denver Broncos. Denver agreed to a trade for veteran DT Dan Wilkinson earlier in the off season, a trade that was voided when Wilkinson failed to show up in Denver for a physical. Jenkins is a younger, and more promising, option in the middle. I expect Denver to make a strong push for him.
